Checked it out for brunch and loved it. The Madame sandwich was incredibly flavorful with the corned beef, the creaminess of a fried egg, some perfect spiced sauce, and hits of arugula. My bf got the Ruben which was also good but mine was better! Coffee was fine.
Dined in here after my Pilates class with two friends (Party of 3). This place is super cute, the staff is super friendly and the food is VERY good. I fell in love with their fried pickles , my mouth waters just thinking about them. Will definitely come back!
Gertie left us with mixed feelings. While the hipster ambiance adds flair, a 30+ minute Sunday wait for a party of four dampened the experience, especially when neighboring restaurants boasted available seating. The staff's cool and friendly demeanor softened the blow of mediocre food, but the bialy breakfast and bacon egg & cheese sandwich failed to justify their steep prices. At $16 for a sandwich, we expected a taste that transcends, yet it fell short. In the realm of brunch options, Gertie seems more about hype than substance. For those seeking value and prompt service, other neighborhood eateries may offer a more satisfying experience.
Always a vibe! Have come here for New Year’s day brunch and a couple other times. The Turkey Pastrami Club and the Latkes are my go-tos. Also love their boozy sodas. Make a reservation ahead of time, you’ll be glad you did.
We loved the ambiance of the place and the service was excellent. Everything was delicious but definitely a pricier brunch spot. For reference, a single bagel was around $15 and while the bagels were definitely made well, we thought it was too pricy for what you were getting.
A buzzing establishment in Williamsburg, Gertie’s menu reflects a contemporary, design forward take on a traditional Jewish deli. We came in on a rainy day for a
pickup bagel and coffee and were greeted with attentiveness from Emily (GM), Moira and Ricardo. The excellent energy, decor and overall ambience here makes it a destination for any group. In short, we plan to come back for a full brunch. Oh, and the coffee is great.
I think this place is overrated, at least for our experience. Me and my friend were looking for a brunch spot in Williamsburg on a Sunday, she said she already ordered from Gertie (bagels only) and we gave it a try.
From reviews and pictures it seemed very good.
The vibe was cool, we only waited 20 minutes and got a table in the back patio. We were not so happy with the food, scrubled eggs and fried chicken (schnitzel) were very salty and the chicked didn’t look good at all. The lemon tahini squash were so raw and undercooked, they were so nice to send a new order and take them off our check.
The pancake was stale, overall we unfortunately didn’t enjoy the experience and we don’t think food was good :(
But we appreciated the server trying to help us
Got delivery. overall all, really disappointed. The Apple cake was the highlight, very delicious. The salad and squash were fresh. But the main food was awful. The whitefish salad sandwich was dry and tasteless. The latkes were super dense, potatoes raw, way too salty and look nothing like the photos others have posted. Will not return.
